As a straight male, the best teacher I ever had was a gay man. Among many other things, he taught me the difference between “there,” “their” and “they’re.” His name was Keith Johnson. I would have been absolutely delighted for my daughter to have known him. I sang at his funeral.
This tweet, boosted by folks like Neil Gaiman, JK Rowling and Nick Offerman, has now been seen by over three million people. So now I would like to tell you a little bit about Keith Johnson, the best teacher I ever had.
Looks like the homophobe’s teachers didn’t get through to him very well. Closed minds don’t want to learn what they don’t want to know. They prefer to believe gays “recruit” the innocent. If only they would all just “pray the gay away”.
No doubt he also believes Orange Julius was sent by Jesus to make American great.
What an unfortunately statement to broadcast out to all of Twitter.

I would feel perfectly fine with this, unless said teacher did not care about my child or help us instill a love and appreciation for learning and knowledge. A person’s sexual orientation has nothing to do with how adept at teaching and communicating knowledge. What a sorry life Steve Adams @ Blueweekend42 must live to feel compelled to make this kind of statement up upon the internet soapbox.
