Waiting for the Universe to Form

The new GOP

From nojo:

Ten days in, and here we are.

Pretty much as expected, really. We were promised a wave of executive orders, and we got them. We were promised time to think about things not relating to an idiot tinpot wannabe dictator, and we got that.

And if Republicans didn’t exactly promise they would try to sweep the Capitol siege under the rug, we’re not surprised we’re getting that, too.

We don’t know exactly where things will be going until the next election — next year! — but the lines are being drawn. Republicans will be pushing themselves even farther off the ledge, looking like Wile E. Coyote standing in midair the moment before he drops into the canyon. This won’t be a problem for “safe” districts — Marjorie ain’t going away — but you can’t win whatever remains of the center being the Party of Traitors.

So there’s something not yet settled: Who remains a Republican after this?

  1. The difference is that an overwhelming majority of Republicans and conservatives immediately and without caveat condemned the small fringe of thugs that attacked the capitol. That small contingent of terrorists do not represent the values of the average Republican/conservative.

Where were all of the Democrat/Socialist leaders immediate and unequivocal denunciations of the rioting, looting, arson, violence, and killing done by those associated with Antifa and BLM during the second summer of love? Indeed, many of them made statements of support and mitigation, including Kamala Harris.

Be careful whom you classify as a terrorist.

    1. This whine is getting old. Darrell doesn’t want to know “the small fringe of thugs that attacked the capitol” had a leader who invited them to the rally with, “It will be wild!” Then he ordered them to march to the Capitol to “stop the steal” and “take our country back”.

He’s quick to blame those “associated with Antifa and BLM” but would refuse to admit the terrorists were “associated with Trump and the radical Right.”

Look how he attacks the Vice President for supporting the protests and protesters, not the crimes.

Kamala tweeted, “If you’re able to, chip in now to the @MNFreedomFund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota.”

It was a response to an appeal for donations worded specifically “for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota”.

Darrell is falsely framing Kamala for “statements of support and mitigation” for violent criminals.

Yup, that thug-supporting, swarthy daughter of immigrants is obviously more guilty than Trump, amirite?

Darrell seems good with Trump’s incitement of the terrorist attack. Republicans and duped conservatives who refuse to condemn Trump are in effect condoning it. People like Darrell who agree with the terrorists that the election was stolen are assuring more violence from the radical Right.

No wonder he is obsessed with accusing Democrats of not condemning crimes during the protests. You see, THEY are the real problem, what with all their “socialist hate for America”.

Darrell once again pushes this ridiculous accusation. Where were all of the Democrat/Socialist leaders immediate and unequivocal denunciations of the rioting, looting, arson, violence, and killing done by those associated with Antifa and BLM during the second summer of love?”

If he cared to recognize any news media that wasn’t pro-Trump, (When pigs fly) he would have seen universal condemnation from Bernie and Democrats of the violent criminal behavior. I have done so numerous times in response to Darrell’s repeated false accusation, but that never stopped Darrell from demanding to know why I didn’t do so.

I still wonder why Darrell has yet to condemn the terrorist attack on the Capitol. (See how that works?)

Darrell is still full of Trump’s “stolen election” koolade. It is impossible to engage in rational discussion with fanatic cult beliefs. We can only imagine the anger and bitterness he must hold by believing Trump. As we’ve seen, when anger and bitterness are stoked, rage follows, and then violence is at hand. Fortunately for us, Darrell’s trigger for violence will be when the “socialists” come to take him away to a “re-education camp”.

With apologies to Pastor Martin Niemoller:

First they didn’t destroy America, but I was enraged.
Then they didn’t come for my guns, but I was enraged.
Then they didn’t remove my right to freedom of religion, but I was enraged.
Then they didn’t come to take me to a camp, but I am still enraged.
Finally they didn’t steal the election, but I am totally enraged because Trump said they did.

Since Darrell ignored me the first time, and will do so again, I repeat:

You want us to believe state election certification boards can’t be trusted, secretaries of states can’t be trusted, voters can’t be trusted, poll workers can’t be trusted, voting machines can’t be trusted, Bill Barr can’t be trusted, Romney and McConnell can’t be trusted, Trump’s director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Christopher Krebs can’t be trusted, lower courts can’t be trusted, appellate courts can’t be trusted and the Supreme Court can’t be trusted.

But Donald Trump can be trusted. Did I explain your position accurately?

As McConnell noted, “Self-government, my colleagues, requires a shared commitment to the truth, and a shared respect for the ground rules of our system…We cannot keep drifting apart into two separate tribes with a separate set of facts and separate reality…The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people.”

Yet the Radical Right Party of Trump will do their best to see their beloved leader escape all accountability.

Better find something to falsely blame on Democrats, for they are so much worse. Or so the cult insists, as they eagerly defend Trump’s Big Lie that directly resulted in terrorism.

If Darrell responds, I’m sure it will be with another false accusation for me. Anything but a rational evidence-supported case for Trump’s Big Lie.

I’ve been asking for such evidence in utter futility since he promoted the Big Lie at his blog.

Darrell warns us, “Be careful whom you classify as a terrorist.”

Why? Because terrorists believe in the same cause and the same Big Lie that Darrell believes?

This shows how detached from reality Darrell is. He can’t seem to accept the fact that real people were literally terrorized and killed by Trump’s insurrectionist political extremists.

If that’s not terrorism, I have a swamp shack in Mar-A-Lago for sale.

      1. BLM / Demonstrations of Summer 2020 instigated by the murder of and brutality toward people of color by Law Enforcement.

Capitol Insurrection instigated by months, if not years, of “conservative” propaganda and finally pushed over the edge by the actual President of the United States because he was having a hissy fit over being crushed in the National Election.

I fail to see how Darrell thinks the two are remotely close enough to be used as ‘whataboutism’. One was a spontaneous demonstration over the inequities in our society. The other was stoked over mostly imagined victimization and one man being worse than a sore loser.

I’m kind of extra sad Darrell took that time off away from his blog. I think he used that time to fall down the rabbit hole. Though, at least he scrubbed ‘Common Sense’ from the name of his blog. It’d be disingenuous to keep it since he’s abandoned that which he once claimed to save.
