The Hopelessness of It All

From Green Eagle:

So the nation was treated yesterday to nine hours of evidence that Donald Trump is nothing but a cheap, brazen criminal. But of course, sad to say, every sentient person in the country already knew that; there has never in our whole history been anyone more manifestly guilty that Trump. So will this further round of national humiliation and disgrace be the tipping point that we have waited so long for, the point at which we all understand how much we degrade and disgrace ourselves by allowing it to go on for another day?

Forget it. Regardless of how incontrovertible the signs of Trumps guilt are, the Republicans will go right on denying the truth until their dying days.

  1. Cohen was Trump’s guy long before he was president and he’s the sort of attorney you’d expect a wealthy criminal to have. But we are to ignore anything he says now unless it somehow exonerates Trump.

It seems that it would take nothing less than an immediate family member or one of his closest advisers (but I repeat myself) to come out with dirt *while* serving him for Republicans to believe that Trump is anything worse than “a little rough around the edges.” And even that is no guarantee. We’re talking about the guy who wouldn’t lose his supporters if he shot someone, after all.

I hope that voters never forget how the GOP handled the Trump years.
