I don’t know about the rest of you but I am perplexed beyond imagination at how unsophisticated and just plain stupid the supporters of Donald Trump seem to be. I mean it seems that every other presidential swap we get a Republican and most of us disagree with that person’s philosophy. That is just the way game is played, but right now I would love to have either of the Bushes or Reagan back in the White House.
At least, even when G.W. said he could see into Putin’s soul, I did not think that he was going to hand him the keys to the country. With Trump, I am not so sure.

All of this NATO and trade business wasn’t a big campaign issue and it certainly wasn’t even among any voting group’s top concerns. And yet Trump has managed to convince his base that it’s a priority that justifies ignoring his promises regarding important issues like health care and infrastructure *and* that his approach is good for us. His supporters routinely go out of their way to justify his actions, often even alluding to some mysterious, genius strategy at work.
Now, we can’t even convince Trump supporters that threatening and attacking our allies in the name of *possibly* keeping or making a little more money isn’t worth the harm in the first place. Convincing them that it plays into the hands of our enemies and is probably the very reason Putin likes and supported him (don’t forget that we have to convince them of that too) is therefore completely out of the question.
