Keep an Eye on Bannon

found online by Raymond

From Infidel753:

On fringe-right websites, I’ve already seen a few Trumpanzees (among those disappointed in Trump’s capitulations on issues like DACA) talking about Bannon as a 2020 Presidential candidate. Such talk probably isn’t widespread on the far right…..yet. But as Trump continues to compromise and be generally ineffectual, Bannon may well be able to position himself as a new rallying point.

If so, we can’t rule out him getting nominated. 2016 exposed the Republican establishment as utter dithering cowards when tasked with stopping a determined demagogue. And the party will enter 2020 either with a pitifully-failed Trump still at its head, or with Pence as President and the party disastrously divided in the aftermath of impeachment. Either case would create an opening for someone like Bannon.

Trump Names Sarah Palin Ambassador to Nambia

found online by Raymond

From The Borowitz Report:

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump on Friday capped a busy week of diplomatic activity by naming the former Alaska governor Sarah Palin the United States Ambassador to Nambia.

By naming Palin to this diplomatic post, the United States has become the first nation in the world to formally recognize Nambia’s existence.

Entire Teams Are Symbolically Taking a Knee

found online by Raymond

From our favorite Earth-Bound Misfit:

Football players are not going to be bullied by some old, overweight, short-fingered white guy.

A guy who, mind you, thinks that brain-damage ought to be part of the game, while he has apparently never taken a punch in his life.

Trump says that his call to fire anyone who protests the National Anthem has nothing to do with racism. The hell it doesn’t.

What Rex finally noticed about Trump

found online by Raymond

From driftglass:

Are you ready for some football!

According to his Wikipedia page, Rex Ashley Ryan (who is two month younger than my brother) is…

…a former American football coach and current ESPN analyst. Ryan was formerly the head coach of the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL), and also held various coaching positions with eight other NFL and college teams.

He is, in other words, a grown-ass Trump-supporting white man living a life of privilege in the United States of America who would have you believe that he literally did not notice until yesterday that President Stupid is a racist asshole:

When Fear of the Police Is Not Living Free

found online by Raymond

From Glenn R. Geist at MadMikesAmerica:

It’s getting very hard for me to maintain the opinion that unnecessary and illegal shootings by police officers are a rare and statistically unimportant thing. It’s harder and harder to believe the cover stories that have traditionally justified such things now that most of us have video cameras in our pockets and are able to post to the internet in real time.

The LA Times posted a video a short while ago: a close-up of a young man apparently trying to get up off the ground and being shot repeatedly by an officer. After staggering and falling in terminal agony after the first 6 shots, he gets another as a gratuitous point-blank coup de grace. There is something in his right hand that certainly looks flexible and not gun-like. You can see that as it hits the ground. My stomach turned as I heard him saying no, no, no until the last shot silenced him.

No, I wasn’t there, didn’t see what led up to it, but I’m not blind or stupid and I’m sure I witnessed a murder.

Stupid on Steroids – Nambia? Really?

found online by Raymond

From M. Bouffant at Web of Evil:

“I bet a lot of you people didn’t know Nambia.”

Dementia or idiotic ignorance?

“Nambia’s health system is increasingly self-sufficient,” Trump said at a working luncheon with African leaders. Earlier, he can also be heard mistakenly referring to “Nambia” in his opening remarks.

Possibly being harsh here. It’s entirely possible (highly likely, really) that the current resident of the Executive Mansion is functionally illiterate. Cram too many of those squiggly little letter worms in a word & he just naturally loses interest & misses a few. Like any other second-grader.

Donald Trump Can Shut Up About Sports Forever

found online by Raymond

From Vixen Strangely at Strangely Blogged:

President Trump in his long and rambling speech in Huntsville, Alabama, had something to say about athlete protesters (but I am sure he probably had Colin Kaepernick in mind):

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers during the offseason. He has not been signed by a new team since then. Several players have continued to protest during the anthem this season.

“The only thing you could do better,” Trump said, “is if you see it, even if it’s just one player, leave the stadium. I guarantee things will stop. Things will stop. Just pick up and leave. Pick up and leave. Not the same game anymore, anyway.”

Leave the stadium? Does this jackass know what people pay for these seats? What a dumbass. Pay for a ticket, then fail to watch the game, and the NFL still gets the same revenue. This guy has a problem with understanding that the NFL needs to confront the brain damage issue, but sounds like he has a bad case of CTE, himself. And what would people be walking out for–a failure to appreciate people taking advantage of the platform their skills have given them to try to start a conversation–

About whether black lives matter. Whether black people can drive cars, walk streets, carry things that might look vaguely gun-like, in public where cops can see, without getting shot dead. They aren’t protesting every damn thing about America. They are protesting people getting killed for their skin.
