No Media Attention for
Anti-Semitism at Trump Rally

From Tommy Christopher:

President-elect Donald Trump’s “thank you” tour kicked off in Cincinnati on Thursday, broadcast live by news networks who appear determined to learn nothing from the 2016 election. Once again, viewers got to hear Trump telling lies about issues like his deal with Carrier, free of any filter providing analysis, context, or fact-checking.

The mere existence of a Trump “thank you” tour is disturbing, and during its inaugural rally, there was no shortage of other disturbing things, like the return of “lock her up” chants, some of which received critical coverage in the national media.

What you regrettably will not be hearing much about, though, is Trump’s continued use of a phrase that has an established and undisputed anti-Semitic history:

  1. Enough of this. These are two simple, common words and we are *not* obligated to pretend that what they meant 75 years ago is what they must always mean. When liberals whine about things like this, they (1) weaken themselves by sending a message to non-liberals that they are oversensitive, pedantic, and desperate; and (2) strengthen Trump by giving him the opportunity–one he always takes–to ignore the criticism and come off as a bold leader who doesn’t succumb to the pressure of political correctness.

Focus on his actual policies, where identifiable, and the harm that they will do. Focus on the people he has chosen for his administration. Focus on his words that genuinely undermine our unity, system of government, respect for others, alliances with other countries, etc. Focus on the hypocrisy and the scandals. Focus on the real and unambiguous for maximum effect. And hope that it isn’t too late to reach some of his supporters, who are deciding (if they haven’t already) that there is no point in listening to “mainstream media” because of criticisms like this.

Haven’t Democrats lost enough power yet?
