Flying the VERY Friendly Skies With Donald Trump

From tengrain at Mock Paper Scissors:

I’m trying to imagine the scenario at Trump Tower where they come up with an eye-witness to refute the claims that Trump groped Jessica Leeds, not withstanding aeronautic expert Katrina Pierson’s pesky fixed/not-fixed armrest:

Trump: What have you got, boys! It better be good or your fired, and have I mentioned what hot wives you’ve got?

Staffer 1: Well, we got a Brit who will claim he sat opposite you and that Leeds threw herself at you.

  1. Wait a minute! I thought we were told that what happens in a person’s private life doesn’t matter! Trump may still be great at governing the nation! (Okay, even I admit that is a bunch of crap.) Nevertheless, it was the Democrats and the left that told us that all of Bill Clinton’s sexual exploits were his own private business. I find it amazing that this has now changed. Maybe I should send an email to move-on.org and see what they have to say.

    1. And when Democrats said that such things didn’t affect Clinton’s ability to govern or that his private life was his own business, did Republicans listen and stop pursuing the matter? Of course not. So why should Democrats let this behavior slide, especially when so many self-avowed Christian conservatives suddenly don’t really care anymore, yet still maintain that they are morally superior? For me, this is a matter of fair play, not hypocrisy.

  2. It was wrong when Clinton did it and it is wrong when Trump does it. It is a matter of right and wrong. “Fair play” is simply a way to provide cover for hypocrisy in this instance, sir.

Our “classy” first lady said that she was disgusted after hearing the tapes of Donald Trump’s pernicious boastings. And while I agree with her, I find her “disgust” to be nothing more than a charade, considering the rappers that have been befriended by the Obamas and come to the White House and yet sing of “ho’s, bitches,” and women as sexual objects. Somehow her disgust over Trump seems to lose its validity in light of her hypocrisy.

I had always held to the idea that our president should be held to a much higher standard and should represent the very best of our ideals. I realize that this has not happened when it comes to matters of character for a very long time, but now it seems that we don’t even strive for that ideal any more based on the two egregiously flawed human beings that we have chosen as our presidential candidates. It is about party instead of country now, and that is why this republic continues to deteriorate.

    1. Whether or not it is wrong is not the question here. We know the answer to that.

Whether or not it mattered (affected Bill Clinton’s ability to perform his duties) or was any of our business was the question back then. Republicans answered that question then and continue to insist that it was wrong and a good reason to try to kick him out of office.

Now Republicans are faced with a man who not only does the same thing (or worse), but brags about it. (We’ll just pretend that some of the Republicans who went after Clinton weren’t also guilty of the same.) If adultery is enough to disqualify someone from the presidency, then Republicans should be rejecting Trump. If Republicans don’t reject Trump, then they can no longer hold adultery to be enough reason to disqualify someone from the presidency and they should apologize and retract their statements about Clinton. Get rid of Trump or lay off Clinton: those are the only two options to avoid hypocrisy.

It would be similarly hypocritical for a Democrat to insist that the wrongness of adultery disqualifies only some candidates from office. But it is *not* hypocritical for a Democrat to hold Republicans to the standards to which Republicans pay lip service and which they apply to Democrats whenever it is politically convenient–even now, when their own candidate is at least as bad! That is indeed fair play, unless you think that Republican rules should only apply to Democrats.

Now, I agree that anyone who condemns Trump for what he said but praises others who say the same is a hypocrite. I have no respect for the messages of popular rap, among other music, and I see no justification for our culture’s embrace of it except for identity politics and white guilt, which aren’t justifications at all. Accordingly, I join you in condemning the Obamas. But there is more to Democrats and liberals than the Obamas and other top politicians.

  3. I fail to see how there is hypocrisy in Mrs. Obama feelings towards Mr. Trump’s words and Rappers and Musicians being invited to the White House. People like Kendrick Lamar, Common, Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes have been to the White House? Some of their lyrics include bad words? The White House has also hosted John Legend, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson. Your assertion is that since some people who have produced entertainment that have had colorful language were invited to the White House that Mrs. Obama can’t have (Or at least express) her opinion towards Donald Trump? Pretty unfair for the First Spouse.

And in regards to your last paragraph: Unlike you, apparently, I do not fear for the Republic. I’ve got faith in the Constitution.

  4. Ryan, I agree with most of what you wrote. There is one caveat that I need to clarify though. If it was simply a matter of consensual adultery on Bill Clinton’s behalf, like with Monica Lewinsky, then that is one matter. When it is a matter of groping, kissing, and other unwanted advances on many other women that made such claims, then he is culpable for the same offenses that the idiot Trump bragged about. I excuse neither Trump nor Clinton. Hillary’s defense of her husband by unleashing James Carville and others to ridicule and marginalize her husband’s accusers makes her little better than him, in my opinion. Neither Trump nor Hillary should be president accordingly, I so believe.

Trey, Michelle took her daughters to Jay-Z’s concert, but claims Trump’s tape of 11 years ago is more disgusting than Jay-Z’s lyrics. The Obamas have invited the first couple of smutty lyrics and undress to the White House. Here is a sample of the lyrics that classy Michelle approves of for her daughters and all women:

“You ain’t no better because you don’t be
fucking rappers/ You only fuck with actors/
    You’re still getting fucked backwards.”

“If you’re having girl problems, I feel bad for you son.
    I got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one.”

“Now once upon a time not too long ago
A nigga like myself had to strong arm a hoe.
This is not a hoe in the sense of having a pussy
But a pussy having no God damn sense,
    try and push me.”

“You know I – thug em, fuck em, love em, leave em
Cause I don’t fuckin need em.
Take em out the hood , keep em lookin good,
But I don’t fuckin feed em.”

Yeah, Jay-Z and his stage twerking wife are great “role models” Michelle Obama said, but she is disgusted by Trump’s comments. HYPOCRISY thy name is Michelle!

I am disgusted by Trump and both of the Obamas. I applaud Ryan for his consistency on this issue.

    1. There are much better role models, much better specifically black role models, and even much better specifically black musician role models. They might not be as famous and they might therefore not have as much influence or as much money to use to help other people, but we would be much better off with more of them and fewer gangsters, gangster wannabes, and gangster glorifiers. It’s bizarre to me that the Obamas would praise people like Jay-Z when those other options exist. I don’t even see much political value in it.

As for Trump and Bill Clinton, I don’t know what’s true beyond their consensual affairs and Trump’s own bragging (which may have been nothing more) about forcing himself on women and walking into changing rooms because he can, so I’m not going to condemn either of them for rape or assault or equate the two of them just because they *might* have done the same thing. But nothing would surprise me.

  5. Oh, and Trey, the Constitution has been roundly ignored when it has found to be inconvenient to both Democrats and Republicans for decades now. The violations have become exceptionally egregious under the Obama administration though, particularly when it comes to checks and balances and infringements upon our Bill of Rights. I suspect President Hillary will outdo her predecessor though.

While your faith in the Constitution is admirable, my friend, it is misplaced. It only works when we hold our elected officials accountable. Instead we are going to vote for one of those highly corrupt individuals to be the leader of the free world, hence the death of our constitution and our republic to soon follow.

  6. Mr. Deming, I understand your not wanting to post my comment with Jay-Z’s filthy lyrics that demean women. The disgusting nature of it was precisely why I wrote them down verbatim in order to show our friend Trey and others that don’t see the hypocrisy of Michelle Obama. I don’t use words like that. People that need to resort to vulgarities and demeaning of women have vocabulary and character problems.

Michelle Obama thinks Beyonce and Jay-Z are good role models for her girls and Trump’s filth is disgusting, and yet by not posting my comment with Jay-Z’s lyrics only goes to prove my point about how disgusting Jay-Z really is. Thanks for making my point regardless of not posting my comment.

    1. Hi, T. Paine.

We are still new to Word Press. It’s possible, I suppose, that some part of the system relegated your comment to parts unknown. More likely, someone here got clumsy. Please try again.
