1. Well I guess this picture is better than some of his previous ones in similar circumstances where he didn’t think it was necessary to place his hand over his heart. Evidently Michelle was “proud to be an American” there finally too since she evidently never was until her husband was elected president.

   1. That same google search shows, without having to scroll down, pictures of Trump and both Bushs not holding their hands over their heart and several of Obama with his hand over his heart. I thought we were all past the “Obama doesn’t say the pledge of allegience” non-sense 8 years ago.

2. I appreciate Mr. Paine informing us how unpatriotic the Obama are. I’m sure when TP was a black person he was always proud to be an American. 😉

   Yes, Breitbart and FOX tell us this as well. “…similar circumstances where he didn’t think it was necessary”. The Black Guy is very unpatriotic, obviously. He had nothing but pure contempt for our nation and traditions, amirite?

   How about GWB doing a dance step during a memorial for slain police officers? Now THAT would be a travesty and mockery… if he was black.

   Does this make Bush Sr.and Jr. unpatriotic, or IOKIYAR? Of course it is.

   A similar photo exists of Trump doing this too. Also IOKIYAR. Not a peep from conservatives about this when a white Republican does the SAME thing.

   I have to wonder why…

3. I will concede your point about Bush Sr. and Junior as well as Trump, although I have little more use for them than I did for Obama.

   So does their lack of class and dignity excuse the same for Obama? After all, Burr’s post was about being impressed with our first couple.

   Speaking of which, none of that excuses Michele’s statements either.

   But what do I know? I am just a racist authoritarian Trumpist (who didn’t vote nor supports Trump) right, Dave?

   I don’t mean to be personal, as I may stir the pot a bit with innuendo directed at the worst characteristics of con-servatism. Some of that could be taken personally, unfortunately.

   Allow me to clarify so I may not be taken as passing accusations of racism and Trumpism.

   You, a racist? Heavens, no. Just double standards, perhaps. I cannot recall any overt racist statement from you. And you are certainly not a Trumpist. You are not one of his true believers. This I admire about you.

   But I don’t recall any disagreement from you on any of Trump’s official actions. If that were true, I would see you as a religious person, authentically capable of kindness and good intentions, yet politically authoritarian leaning. I see you as a non-Trumpist conservative, with a narrower and more closed interpretation of the Constitution, generally favoring policies that benefit the wealthy elite.

   You are not a fascist, buy you will red bait at times. The culture of radical con-servatism has been gaining a louder voice in our national discourse and has made red baiting common and fashionable on the Right.

   Certainly no Democrat would win the White House by urging his cult into chanting about locking up his opponent. That is purely authoritarian behavior that feeds into hate and anger. This is how fascists have always rallied.

   Obama implemented a version of Romney Care, and he was attacked as an evil Marxist Foreign Muslim.

   Those were the racists with their fascistic demonization. The red card wasn’t enough for them.

   I believe you limited your allegations to Marxism and other ideological issues.

   Trump launched his presidential aspirations with his patently racist birtherism. Now he is a veritable cult President, demonizing dissent, journalism, science, the courts, and anyone who gets in his way. He just kicked into Nixon mode and fired James Comey.

   Going back to the point, conservatives are generally given a pass on these images…for some reason. We would imagine, if not racism, then certainly wild double standards.

   And you are bothered by Obama not holding his hand to heart, like previous Republican presidents have done.

   I actually credit you for being more troubled by Trump than by Obama photos. I respect that insight of you as well. Unlike Trumpists, you are a man of common sense, but more importantly, common decency.
