- PZ Myers is awed as religionist Pat Robertson goes on air to urge us not to get too upset with Saudi Arabia. The alliance and jobs and money are most important. We shouldn’t be distracted by little details like the ghastly murder and grim dismemberment of a US employed journalist. You can see his point. Like PZ Myers asks: What would Jesus do? Go with the money, I suppose.

I may have missed any mention of this incident by James Wigderson. In case we focus on just one instance, Vixen also points to a few more cases of right wing deadly violence. That would be deadly violence. For some reason, she does not proclaim that Republicans favor mob rule. An oversight, I suppose.

At what point is it morally right to do more than simply condemn with words and vote in hope of change? It seems to me that wars have been fought over less than what is happening now.
Trump and his Republican yes men, voted in by a minority, are advancing a harmful agenda that is unpopular with a majority of the country often through means that are unethical at best. Trump himself openly and undeniably embodies a plethora of vices (greed, selfishness, dishonesty, arrogance, anger, combativeness, ignorance, unawareness, childishness, and more), has embarrassed us abroad, has divided us through his endless immature attacks on political allies and opponents alike, has told countless lies about just about everything (e.g. he recently insisted that he and all Republicans are for protecting pre-existing conditions even as his administration advances a lawsuit to end such protections), has called for illegal and immoral policies, has betrayed many of the principles that Republicans claim to uphold, and has both verbally attacked our media (at least the media that is not in constant personal contact with him to make sure that it helps him to advance his agenda) and encouraged physical attacks on it. What have Republicans, including the ones we thought might care about their principles, done about it? Nothing.
So I don’t want to hear whining about the minority party being too angry about this monstrous modern GOP from people like the ever hyperbolic Wigderson. Since Republicans are not behaving like they actually care about this country, they are not worthy of our civility. As far as I’m concerned, they deserve worse than what they’ve gotten — and Trump deserves much, much more than that.
