Curiously, the very same forces exist today. There are those in this country today who view a universal, national health care plan as a dangerous and radical idea, even though European and Asian nations have successfully been operating such systems for many decades now. Forward-thinking and fair-minded people (progressives and liberals) are always stymied for a time by fearful people in their present who have no vision and want to keep the world just as it is (conservatives). But, inevitably, the conservatives always inevitably lose the battle, and then the next generation of conservatives ends up adopting and wanting to preserve the last generation's progressive ideas and achievements (thank God).

It is just too bad that the conservative mindset is always so far behind the curve in any generation. Their unwillingness to move slows progress and needlessly adds to much human misery.
