NEVER thought I'd say it, but I agree with Rep. Davis---but only in part; that part being her first sentence. Aren't insurance companies "outside parties"? You bet they are! And since their main (sole) aim is to maximize profit, NOT to provide health care, that is a major reason prices are getting so out of hand. Indirectly, Ms. Davis is blaming consumers for this, as they are evidently unaware of the high costs of health care, she alleges. But consumers aren't united enough or capitalized enough to influence high drug and medical equipment costs, so they would be unable to bring costs down on their own. Rep. Davis (fool that she is) didn't realize it, but she made a great case for 100% government-run health care! For government's main concern is protection of the people, not maximizing profit for a relatively small few.
