Bad News and Worse News – Bernie Sanders and Guns

found online by Raymond

From Tommy Christopher at the Daily Banter:

Everybody knows that Hillary Clinton has been beating up on Bernie Sanders but good over gun control, and Bernie has stubbornly continued to insist that we need a law, not a judge or jury, to decide if gun manufacturers are liable for the damage their products cause. However, an even more depressing reality hit home this week when Chris Hayes asked Bernie Sanders if he believes that the Second Amendment confers an individual right to gun ownership:

Religious Freedumb!

found online by Raymond

From Max’s Dad:

They never give up. Nope, the so called religious folks who makeup much of rural America simply refuse to stop believing it’s THEM who face discrimination. Poor babies, forced into underground churches to worship that vengeful God who loves them so much he stuck them in some backwards ass community cuz of that Obama. They cant even worship the invisible man in the sky that hates everybody but them and brings on bombings to show how much he loves them. They are so beat down and oppressed that Obama probably wants to patrol christian neighborhoods or some dumb idea like that. And those homos, oh those horrible homos, what with forcing their way into stores and living their lives out in the open and acting like regular people and all the while recruiting the rural kids into the beastly big cities where the politicians have an open mind and pass those pro-homo laws. It just has to be stopped, and neanderthal tea party bigots are just the people to stop it.

3/4 Of Republicans Say Their Officials Are “Out-Of-Touch”

found online by Raymond

From jobsanger:

This is more bad news for the Republican Party. It seems that 76% of the public believes congressional Republicans are out-of-touch with the voters — and 76% of all Republicans agree with that assessment. Only 13% of the general public, and 20% of Republicans think congressional Republicans are doing a good job.

Those are terrible numbers for a party that currently controls both houses of Congress — and was hoping to keep that control in the coming election. And it’s especially bad that their own base thinks they are doing a terrible job.

The numbers are better for Democrats.

The Crossdresser and The King

found online by Raymond

From NOJO at Stinque:

J. Edgar Hoover, who was smashing gender norms before it was cool, had his panties in a bunch about Martin Luther King Jr. MLK had a suspicious proclivity to exercise his First Amendment rights, which, if allowed to spread, might undermine the Republic by forcing it to live up to its ideals.

So Hoover did what Americans expect an FBI chief to do:

Altruism and Statism

found online by Raymond

Classic libertarianism. Poverty as a natural state. Selfishness as a virtue.

From Libertarian Michael A. LaFerrara at Principled Perspectives:

Reverend Randy Van Doornik, pastor of the North Reformed Church in Newark, New Jersey eloquently confirms why a nation’s government is an extension of that society’s dominant ethical principles. In a New Jersey Star-Ledger letter titled Sanders breaks barriers at Liberty, but why the barrier?, Van Doornik provides an exclamation point to Bernie Sanders’s call in a September 2015 speech to an audience of Christian conservatives to put their Christian ethics where their political mouths are. Van Doornik writes, in part:

Kasich Takes Credit for Clinton Economy He Opposed

found online by Raymond

From Jon Perr at Perrspectives:

Running third in the race in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, Ohio Governor John Kasich nevertheless insists he’s in it to win it. His refusal to yield is based on two equally bogus selling points. Compared to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, the union-busting, abortion-ending Kasich portrays himself as a relative moderate. More important, the former GOP Congressman and Fox News host claims his supposed “Ohio miracle” and 1990’s leadership make him uniquely qualified to direct the American economy.

Sadly for Kasich, his resume on the economy is a transparent fraud. As the New York Times and Politico among others thoroughly documented, during Kasich’s tenure the Buckeye State has been outperformed on job creation by neighboring Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky. As the numbers show, it was President Obama’s rescue of the U.S. auto industry, and not John Kasich’s leadership, which saved the Ohio economy. More comical still, Governor Kasich now claims he and his Republican colleagues deserve the credit for the 1990’s Clinton boom which generated 22 million new jobs and balanced budgets despite Kasich’s own warnings of looming economic disaster.

Phife Dawg Died On My Birthday

found online by Raymond

From The Intersection of Madness and Reality:

Phife Dawg (Malik Taylor, the 5 Foot Freak) died on March 22, 2016. And yes, I am extremely saddened. A group that became a musical soundtrack for my youth lost one of its members. The impending trending topic and social media responses ensued. In fact, I saw so many different types of people worldwide give the exact same account: Phife Dawg helped them get through it.
