Loving the Sinner, Hating the Sin (of Still Supporting This President)

From North Carolina pastor John Pavlovitz:

Dear Trump Supporter,

For years you’ve been telling me that you don’t actually hate LGBTQ people; that in fact you quite love them—you just despise their “immoral lifestyle choices.” You’ve tried to make the case, that for you to be silent and to allow them to remain willfully in their sin would be the most unloving thing you could do.

Despite me letting you know how hurtful your words and how damaging your methods have been to LGBTQ people (and to their families and to outsiders watching from a distance), you insisted that you weren’t doing anything less than loving them as Jesus would.

  1. Despite Pastor/political pundit Pavlovitz’s always apparent progressive bias in all of his writing, I largely find myself in agreement with him on this particular essay. As such we, as a country, need to pray that the Holy Spirit will come and guide President Trump in his governing of our nation and in helping him to not succumb to evil temptation. I am certain the good pastor will agree and is already praying with me regarding our president accordingly.

  2. It is amazing how the true believer, authoritarian personality will be loyal, in the name of their religion yet, to an ignorant, cheating, greedy, selfish, mammon serving, pathological liar.

I dare say they love Trump because he hates the same people they hate. Yes, they are deluded hypocrites.

And they think God wants them to honor a torture-loving hateful man?

I can only conclude they are deceived by Satan, and they are blind to which master they serve.

  3. I certainly am not “honoring” Donald Trump.

That said, I am praying for my “enemies” as God has told us to do. I did the same for Barack Obama when he was in office. Do you find that wrong or hateful or ignorant, sir?

    1. Mr. Paine,
Easy, buddy. I was not referring to you. I wrote that before your comment was visible.

I know you have some skepticism about Trump.

  4. It is not skepticism. I simply do not like Trump. He is not what this country needs to make America great again… ironically. He is as much a stranger to the Constitution as nearly every other politician is in this nation.

    1. I simply do not like Trump either. Not for Left v Right reasons, but right and wrong. He is everything I noted and wrong in so many ways. Along with trout fishing, hunting and the Second Amendment we have another item of agreement.
