Andrew Sullivan Line by Line

From driftglass:

This week, NY Magazine’s resident non-blogger, Mr. Andrew Sullivan, comes right off the blocks with his facts all wrong in all the predictable ways:

We have become, at this point, inured to having an irrational president…

“We” have done no such god damn thing.

…in an increasingly post-rational America.

“America” is not “increasingly post-rational”. The Republican Party is utterly and completely post-rational. Insane, actually, and has been for a very, very long time.

  1. Sullivan is just another media “moderate” shilling “Both Siderism”.

Both Siderism is not just a blight on the land and not just the crutch that keeps the Republican Party limping along from catastrophe to catastrophe. It is also corporate media policy, and as long as it remains corporate media policy, nothing will change.

Corporate media know what side their bread is buttered. Corporate advertising is their butter, just as corporate “Free speech” money is the lubricant of the Right’s agenda.

Corporate media bend over backwards to equate the practices and principles of left and right, ignoring the elephant in the room, which is the fact the right’s ideology is in service only to wealth and the wealthy, while the left defends Constitutional regulation of commerce, Constitutional taxes, Constitutional provision for the general welfare, and the quaint notions of voter rights and equal justice under law.

As Colbert boldly told Bush Jr., “Reality has a well-known liberal bias.”
