No, Being Gay (Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender) is Not a Sin

From North Carolina pastor John Pavlovitz:

Being gay is not a sin.
Neither is being lesbian, bisexual, or Transgender.
The Bible never claims that it is.
Christians should stop saying it.

It’s the most reckless, wasteful, irresponsible misuse of religion; the most dangerous kind of stereotyping and license to discriminate—and it’s killing people who are made in the image of God.

  1. Wow. God is transexual? So much for God the Father.

I do agree that having same sex attraction is not a sin; however, despite the good pastor’s protestations to the contrary with the twisting of Paul’s words, it is pretty clear that engaging in homosexual acts are indeed sinful.

One wonders if anything qualifies as “sinful” in Pastor Pavlovitz’s world? (Other than being a Republican or conservative, of course.)

    1. There are sins that harm others and sins that don’t. Greed, pride, and hate stand apart generating a malevolence far beyond the imagined harms of consensual and committed love between adults.

Gays are still victims of discrimination, while the aristocracy of elites are revered by the public and served by the government they bought.

  2. Hmmm… so there are “sins that harm others” and other “sins” that don’t harm others. So is your implication that those sins that don’t harm others are only harmful to one’s self? Does that make it a quasi-sin?

I do agree, however, that people with same-sex attraction should not be discriminated against as fellow human beings and fellow brothers and sisters in God.

    1. Sins that harm others are worse than sins that do not. And for their harmless sin, they are despised more than the greediest of liars and cheaters.

My implication was, “Such are our values”.
