Memorial Day is upon us.
- At The Moderate Voice, Dorian Estuardo de Wind greets the coming day of remembrance, recalling the Morse code he used while serving our country, and celebrating one brave prisoner of war who used it to blink out a secret message to the United States in full view of his captors.
- Green Eagle listens with some skepticism to the drumbeats of war, including easy to win prospective battles, and hears the echoes of war drums of years ago.
- Ted McLaughlin at jobsanger goes to the experts to find out how great a danger Iran poses to the United States.
- Yellow Dog at Blue in the Bluegrass takes note of a group of often ignored activists fighting for reproductive rights.
- Max’s Dad has a few vulcanic thoughts about anti-abortion laws.
- Jack Jodell at The Saturday Afternoon Post takes a look at what Republicans really mean by tax reform.
- Our favorite Earth-Bound Misfit reviews the demands Trump must meet before Kris Kolbach will accept the anti-immigrant position Donald Trump wants to create for him.
- A Congressional subcommittee, devoted largely to climate disaster, held a hearing on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife. Democrats invited scientists who are experts on climate. Republicans invited non-scientist climate deniers. Frances Langum watched as soft-spoken Representative Jared Huffman (D-CA) devoted part of his time to gently setting fire to the deniers and their Republican hosts.
- driftglass reads as Andrew Sullivan looks to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster for lessons about authoritarianism, communism, socialism, and labor unions, all of which are horrible. Really. driftglass seems skeptical at the conflation.
- At MadMikesAmerica, Reverend Dr. Mark Bear finds himself attacked for ruining evangelism as he calls Christian conservatives to account for actively opposing teachings of Jesus.
- This week’s note in Trumpian ‘Alternative Facts’ comes from an incredulous Baltimore Sun as my President describes himself as the most transparent President in history.
- Wisconsin conservative James Wigderson reviews the horrible state of the Wisconsin GOP, writing with some sarcasm about plans for party renewal. He lists a few of his own recommendations. Good luck with that noble effort, James.

- In our own comment section: Trey committed painful, grimly entertaining, vivisection on libertarianism as presented by Michael A. LaFerrara.
- And Ryan did much the same after Michael attacked the integrity of electoral college critics. I reacted recently to a similar attack.
One last note: It occurs to me this week’s exchange between President Donald Trump and former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson can be condensed to it’s essense.
Tillerson: President Trump did not adequately prepare for his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Hamburg, Germany, in July 2017.
Trump: Oh yeah? Well, you’re really stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Such is the leadership of my country for the next year and almost 8 months.
